Although apple is the classic crumble pie, you can use a huge variety of fruit. This is a quick and delicious recipe that almost everybody love! Pecan nut has been added to make the topping much more crispy.
1 pie, 20cm diameter
INGREDIENTS
4 eating apple, peeled, cored and cut into slices or small pieces (I used Granny Smith)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/3 cup maple syrup
2 tablespoons cornstarch
Crumble
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup cold butter, cut into small cubes
1/2 cup pecan nuts, coarsely chopped
DIRECTIONS
1.Preheat the oven to 350F (180ºC)
2. Place the apples in an ovenproof dish. Add lemon juice, maple syrup and the cornstarch, mix well until incorporated.
3. To make the crumble, in a small bowl mix the flour, ground cinnamon, ground cardamon and light brown sugar with a fork, then add butter and rub it into the dry ingredients with your fingertips. The mixture should have the texture of coarse breadcrumbs. Finally, add the pecan nuts mixing well until incorporated.
4. Sprinkle the topping over the apples and bake the crumble in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the apples are cooked.
